Stuff to Bring

Recommended Items to have on the river

The following items are basic items I recommend you bring:

  • Breatheable Waders (rental available, included in trips listed as with all necessary equipment)
  • Felt soled or studded wading boots (for the rivers I guide on)
  • Capilene®, Regulator® or other synthetic long underwear for use under waders (not absolutely necessary, but will make you much more comfortable) (heavier weight in winter lightweight in summer, lightweight pants or shorts can be worn in summer)
  • Polarized sunglasses most ideal, but at least sunglasses of some type
  • Sunscreen
  • Lip balm
  • Waterproof rain jacket (breatheable fabrics are most comfortable)
  • Hat with visor for sun protection
  • Camera

Other items for warm weather, summer fishing:

  • Insect repellant
  • Lightweight quick drying shirts and pants/shorts
  • Buzz Off Insect repelling clothing
  • Rain pants if you aren’t wearing waders
  • For wet wading neoprene guard socks or wading sock with gravel guards
  • Other items that can make cold weather, winter, early spring, late fall fishing more comfortable:
  • Fingerless Gloves
  • Fleece jackets and pants
  • Insulated hats such as fleece or wool
  • Insulated heavier weight socks
  • Bootfoot waders

I mostly guide fly fishing and have gear to outfit you for that style of fishing. I will guide with whatever gear you bring or choose. Sorry,  I only can outfit for fly fishing gear. If you don't have any fishing gear I can outfit you with a rod, reel and everthing you will need. I will supply all life jackets unless you have your own.

Where I guide

White River & The Little Red River in Arkansas   Niangua River in Missouri

I am from Kansas City, KS and will do local trips to area lakes.  There are several that stock trout and access with a Drift Boat make it a little easier to fish a local lake. Just ask for pricing.

Remember I can always design a special trip to fit your specific individual or group needs. I look forward to discussing your next vacation with us.

Fishing Recommendations

You can take some of the rainbow trout home if you like. Trophy trout (Brown) are catch and release only no exceptions!

I will cover 8-10 miles a day depending on how much you wade, and how high the waters are.

If you have never fished from a Drift boat before, don’t worry. Fly fishing from a Drift boat is easy, and it offers a unique experience for fly anglers. A good guide and oarsman keeps anglers in the best water for most of the float. Without the physical restrictions and safety concerns of wading, a day in a stable Drift Boat opens up so much more water to anglers and makes it more enjoyable to fish.
